Vacancy for Post-doctoral Fellow

We are looking for a full-time, highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow to join the Department of Molecular Virology at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING). 

The position is for a period of one year with possibility of extension for another year.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research environment combining virology, molecular biology, genetics, ageing research and disease modelling using Drosophila melanogaster.

JOB SUMMARY 
The successful candidate will work on the project VirAge, funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation. The project investigates how persistent viral infections influence ageing, intestinal dysplasia and tumour development using Drosophila melanogaster as an in vivo model. 
The project will examine the molecular and cellular mechanisms through which persistent viral infections affect intestinal stem-cell behaviour, tissue homeostasis, lifespan and age-associated tumour formation.

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING

•    A PhD degree in any Biological Science, Chemistry or closely related field.
•    Strong command of the Greek and English languages. 
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
•    Grant-writing skills.

The following will be considered as advantages:

Experience in one or more of the following areas: Stem cell and cancer biology, Drosophila melanogaster research, virus-host interaction research.
