Essential & Desirable Criteria for the Role
Important Note: Details on the role can be found on the Job Description which is at the end
of this document. These criteria are part of the assessment criteria and will influence the
decision on whether your application will proceed to the next stage.
Essential 1. You must undergo and pass as security & police check. If you are found
successful, you will be requested to provide a Clean Criminal Record and a
Sex Offenders Certificate issued by the Republic of Cyprus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
- Successful applicants must be able to provide references – referee details
must be recorded on the application form.
- Hold a full Cypriot car driving licence and either a full Professional Cat D
(coach / PCV) driving licence or be in the process of obtaining the full
Professional Cat D licence; the full licence must be privately acquired and
obtained within 12 months of commencement of employment.
- Agree to undertake a late shift (finishing at 2100) on a rotational basis.
- Medical checks will be required prior to starting date.
- Desirable 1. Awareness of Health & Safety and environmental issues, manual handling, fire prevention training, COSHH.
Official Language
The official language of the Sovereign Base Areas is English and consequently English is
the official language of British Forces Cyprus. All documents are to be completed in this
language. All employees of the Sovereign Base Areas Administration and British Forces
Cyprus are expected to have a basic command of the English language as a pre-requisite
for employment.

Job Description
POST TITLE MT Driver Area/Section JMETS/MT Position No Grade LSZ1 Grade Priority Full Time/Part Time FULL TIME No of Established Hours 37/36.25/37.50 Required Security Clearance Official Position CYN/UKFM CYN Current Incumbent Name Employed by BFC or SBAA BFC Brief Description of Role LEC MT Drivers provide customer service to BFC by driving and operating passenger and freight carrying vehicles between designated locations. Responsible to OC MT and MTO via MT Foreman and FS MT Priorities (list in order)
- To carry out duties in the way that have been trained, complying with all official publications, Orders, Work Instructions and legal requirements.
- To carry out all transport details assigned in a safe and responsible manner.
- Be competent to drive all vehicles held by MT.
- Compliance with Health and safety and Fire Regulations. Responsible for (Tasks/Duties) Percentage (%) of time spent during the working week on each task
- Adhering to the MT Duty Roster, carry out all transport details assigned in a safe and responsible manner.
- Conduct before and after-use checks, perform regular cleaning and maintenance of the interior and exterior of fleet vehicles.
- Adhering to all SHEF regulations.

Training/qualifications required for the post Essential
- Driving Licence Professional CAT D / PCV (Coach). Applicants who do not currently hold this qualification may still be considered; however, it is essential the qualification is obtained prior to the 12-months’ probation period expires.
