River Advice is looking for an experienced and outstanding Second Captain to lead our vessels on board alongside the First Captain. Captains are the backbone of our vessels. They make sure everything runs smoothly and expertly manage the entire nautical team. If you have a passion for exploration, this could be the perfect opportunity for you to discover the beautiful sights of Europe while you work.

As Second Captain, your responsibilities include assistance with the management of the ship and the safety of our crew and guests. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and taking full command of the ship when required.

You have a good command of German and/or English, a completed training with valid captain’s licences for the Rhine/Danube/Elbe and/or other rivers, radar and radiotelephony certificates and at least 3 years of experience in a similar position. If you also have certificates for “breathing apparatus carrier” and “first aid”, that’s a big plus.
