Junior System Administrator

Responsibilities

Infrastructure, Virtualization & Cloud

• Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of Linux servers

• Perform routine system updates, patching, and user account management

• Support the configuration and maintenance of core IT services

• Help provision and maintain virtual machines on Proxmox (including Windows VMs)

• Learn and support cloud platforms such as Hetzner and AWS

• Assist with simple automation tasks, scripting and Docker containers

Networking & Telephony

• Support the maintenance of MikroTik routers, firewalls and provision VPNs

• Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues

• Assist with LAN, WAN, and VLAN administration

• Help provision and maintain VoIP services

• Monitor system health, infrastructure, and security alerts

• Apply security updates and follow IT security best practices

• Support IP whitelisting and firewall management (iptables and others)

• Assist with backup operations and recovery testing

• Respond to alerts and escalate issues when needed

• Provide technical support to helpdesk team

• Help maintain technical documentation

• Assist with infrastructure upgrades, deployments and migrations

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in Systems Administration, IT Support, or a similar technical role (internships or apprenticeships are also considered)

• Basic knowledge of Linux administration including user management, updates and services

• Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, NAT)

• Basic knowledge of routers and firewalls (MikroTik, iptables)

• Familiarity with virtualization concepts (Proxmox, VMware or Hyper-V) and containers (Docker) is a plus

• Willingness to learn scripting (Bash, Python or PowerShell)

• Basic understanding of Windows Server environments

• VoIP experience (e.g. FusionPBX) is a plus

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Good communication skills and a willingness to learn in a collaborative environment
