Job Summary:
The Pastry Cook works under the guidance of the Pastry Chef to prepare, bake, and decorate pastries, desserts, and related menu items. This role ensures consistent quality, presentation, and adherence to authentic recipes while supporting the smooth operation of the pastry section.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Pastry Chef in the preparation and production of all pastry items, following authentic recipes and hotel standards.
Maintain high levels of personal hygiene, appearance, and health & safety standards in the pastry kitchen.
Prepare mise-en-place for pastry production, ensuring all ingredients are ready and organized.
Decorate desserts and baked goods with creativity, precision, and attention to detail.
Support the weekly schedule of pastry staff and assist in coordinating daily tasks.
Contribute to the creation of new recipes, seasonal desserts, and buffet presentations.
Prepare desserts and pastries for buffets, themed nights, and special events, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
Monitor the quality and consistency of all pastry products, reporting any issues to the Pastry Chef.
Maintain inventory of ingredients and communicate any shortages or needs to the Pastry Chef.
Clean and organize workstations, baking equipment, and storage areas in compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Implement GDPR requirements to protect guest and staff personal information.
Follow hotel Health & Safety rules and procedures, including reporting accidents or incidents.
Perform any other duties assigned by management that are related to the pastry operations.
Skills & Qualifications:
Graduate of a Hotel or Culinary School, with experience in a similar pastry role.
Strong supervisory, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Expertise in pastry decoration and presentation.
Knowledge of Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, and HACCP standards.
Creativity in developing desserts and maintaining high-quality presentation standards.
Ability to work under pressure and during high-volume service periods.
