IT Systems Engineer - Job Advertisement The Company Frederick University is seeking to hire an IT Systems Engineer in Nicosia for full time employment. Responsibilities An excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated IT professional to join part of the dynamic team of IT specialists to set-up and manage the University’s IT systems, to support educational, administrative, and research operations. The successful candidate will report directly to the University’s Director of Operations & Infrastructure Service. • Set up and manage public-facing Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. • Administer Microsoft Windows servers, Active Directory, Azure, Exchange, and utilize PowerShell for automation tasks. • Oversee the administration of Moodle and Joomla platforms, ensuring smooth operations and addressing any issues promptly. • Develop and implement Linux scripts to automate routine tasks and enhance system efficiency. • Demonstrate hands-on experience in networking, including switching and routing using managed switches. • Manage virtualization environments, with a focus on Proxmox, to ensure the stability and scalability of our infrastructure. • Implement and maintain robust security measures across all relevant systems and platforms. Profile of the Ideal Candidate • University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field. • Relevant certifications (i.e. MCSE, RHCE, VCP) will be considered an advantage. • At least 3 years of solid experience in an IT Systems Engineer / System Administrator role, with similar responsibilities. • Proven experience in setting up and managing public-facing Linux servers. • Proven experience with networking, including switching and routing using managed switches. • Background in virtualization, primarily with Proxmox technologies. Experience with other virtualization platforms (i.e. VMWare, KVM) will be considered an advantage. • Proficient with Microsoft Windows servers, Active Directory, Azure, Exchange, and PowerShell. • Experience in administering Moodle and Joomla platforms. • Very good Linux scripting skills. • Very good knowledge of security matters in all relevant areas, as well as cloud computing platforms and servers. • Very good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. • Very good communication and collaboration skills. • Detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering results. • Very good knowledge of English and Greek.
