VACANCY
The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) accepts applications for the employment of one (1) employee with a fixed – term contract for the duration of twelve (12) months. CBC has the right to renew the contract for a further period of up to twelve months.
MICAR & CRYPTO ASSETS COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST (Position Code: MICAR1)
Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in on-site inspections visits, investigations and off-site supervisory reviews of regulated entities and applicants for licensing in line with prevailing legislation. Assist in the assessment of the applications for licensing under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). Support the CBC role in monitoring the crypto-market developments, including the issuances of crypto-asset tokens and the provision of crypto-asset services under MiCAR. Prepare summaries and informative assessments on monitoring crypto-assets and wider digital finance market development. Follow up with compliance and regulation related developments in the MiCAR and Crypto Assets industry legislation, including applicable AML/CFT legal framework and submit suggestions for enhancing procedures of the relevant departments, ensuring created risks are addressed. Organization and delivery of training and presentations to staff. Prepare or participate in the preparation of regulatory or informative material to the regulated entities. Coach members of the allocated department in matters related to MiCAR and Crypto Assets. Participate as a member and advisor in working groups and be involved in the execution of relevant projects. Assist teams working on MiCAR or Crypto Assets related projects with matters arising related to compliance and regulation. Assess procedures in place and submit suggestions for enrichment and upgrade.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or other related field, or professional qualification as CFA or ACCA or ICAEW or other equivalent professional title. Prior experience of at least 8 years in a regulatory body, supervisory authority, financial institution, a tech company, a law firm, an audit firm, advisory firm or combination of these with at least 4 years of those being in scope of work related to regulatory compliance or advice on compliance for blockchain technology and/or Crypto Assets in any of the aforementioned organizations.
Additional/Desired Qualifications
Certified Cryptocurrency Compliance Specialist (CCCS), Certified Blockchain and Law Professional (CBLP), Certified Blockchain & KYC Professional, Certified Blockchain Expert (CBE) or other relevant and equivalent professional qualifications. Knowledge of the market for crypto-asset tokens, and/or the regulatory classification under MiCA framework. Proven experience in assessing applications for authorisation in the crypto-assets area.
